On May 24 the first matches of Arctic Curling Cup 2018 will be played. And today, May 23, early in the morning the participants arrived at Norilsk airport.
The first surprise was waiting for curlers before they got to the hotel in Dudinka. At the entrance to the city guests were met by representatives of the native people of Taymyr. During the energetic ceremony, the locals wished good luck to all participants of the tournament.
After a short rest, the following items of the program were visits to the Taimyr Museum of local history and the House of folk art. This most Northern state Museum of Russia is more than 80 years old, and the new building opened in 2009 allowed to present numerous exhibits of unique history and culture of Taimyr in a more modern form. One of the latest and most valuable acquisitions to the collection of the Museum was mammoth Jenya, discovered in 2012. There were no finds of adult mammoths such safety for more than 110 years. Of course, the guests were very interested in the culture and life of the native peoples of Taymyr, which is devoted to a significant part of the exhibition.
Guests were able to get acquainted with the culture and life of the Taimyr peoples in the House of folk art. There was a symbolic ceremony "the initiation into Taymyr people". The house staff told the guests about the traditions, folk art, cuisine, beliefs. In the courtyard of the house there are several chums, which reproduce the elements of the indigenous peoples ' home, the guest was treated to tea with sweets, gave to try on national costumes. As a result of the rite of passage, each guest received a special commemorative certificate of the event.
All participants of the tournament were impressed by the warm welcome and new impressions in Dudinka.
In the evening, the guests had a meeting with the head of the city Dudinka Yuri Gurin. Communication took place in an informal setting, the head of Dudinka wished good play on the ice.
