
We continue to present the participants of Arctic Curling Cup 2018.
Many of participants of the tournament in Dudinka are real stars of world curling, but Zuzana Hajkova and Tomas Paul from the Czech Republic are successful in the mixed doubles discipline.
Zuzana Hajkova (born in 1993) was one of the youngest participants of the European Curling Championships. She was 15 when she took part as reserve player in 2008 European Women’s Curling Championship. In 2012 Zuzana was number 2 of the Czech Republic team at World Junior Championships, where her team won silver medal.
In 2012-2013 Zuzana started to play mixed doubles with Tomas Paul (born 1988). In 2013 Zuzana and Tomas played at their first World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. They qualified to play off after defeating Russian team. In quarterfinals the Czech Republic defeated New Zealand, but in semifinals they lost to future champions from Hungary. Tomas and Zuzana won their 3rd place game vs Norway (8:1) and got bronze medal. It was 1st medal at any adult World Curling Championship for the Czech Republic.
Paul and Hajkova participated in World Mixed Doubles Championships in 2014, 2017 and 2018 but didn’t win medals. In 2017 they could win medal but lost to China in bronze medal match.
Tomas and Zuzana didn’t qualify to 2018 Winter Olympics but they won two World Curling Tour tournaments this season: in Germany (September) and in Estonia (February).
