On the second day of the Arctic Curling Cup two Russian teams entered the competition. Anastasia Bryzgalova and Alexey Timofeev in the early game defeated Scottish pair Aitken/Menzies with the score 8:4.

Following them on the same track came two Russian couples, acting in the group B. Anna Venevtseva and Vasily Groshev, representing the Krasnoyarsk Krai, on the first day played a decent match against Switzerland, losing only in extra-end. And for Komarova and Goryachev it was the first match in the tournament. From the very beginning, the silver medalists of the 2018 World Mixed Doubles Championship Komarova and Goryachev took over the initiative. They won the first three ends with a total score of 4-0. Only in the 4th end Venevtseva and Groshev scored the first point. But it was just an episode. In the 7th end Komarova and Goryachev won 4 rocks and secured an early victory with the score 10:2. After the match, Daniil and Maria noted the quality of ice and the work of ice makers at the Taymyr arena, which surpasses many sites in Europe and North America and generally corresponds to the level of the World Championship. The Russians were satisfied with their start at the tournament, which has already presented several surprises. Daniil Goryachev: "This tournament at the end of the season is really special: strong teams that are in different conditions, hence the results that are difficult to predict. The Czechs have already won two matches, but it is a strong team that has already proved itself well at the world Championships."

On the next track played the teams of Finland and Switzerland. The Swiss team was ahead after 4 ends (5-3), but then the Finns have noticeably increased. Before the last end, the Swiss were still in the lead (6-5), but in the last end an excellent game was shown by an experienced Markku Uusipaavalniemi, who did not make any mistakes. The last throw he knocked all the rocks of the Swiss from the house and brought his team 4 points, and with them the victory 9:6. The Finns won the second match in a row and made a very significant bid to enter the semifinals: 2 wins in 2 matches.
