Scottish and Canadian-Swedish teams will play in the final of the Arctic Curling Cup

The decisive match of the Arctic Curling Cup will be played between Scotland and Canada/Sweden.

The semifinals of the Arctic Curling Cup began at 09:00 (UTC +7): Scotland – Russia 2 and Czech Republic – Canada/Sweden.

The game between the Russian pair Maria Komarova and Daniil Goryachev and Scottish Gina Aitken and Duncan Menzies was an equal fight. After 4 ends the score was 3-3, but the Scots managed to steal 5th end with the score 3-0. Russians are once again evened the score, winning the 6th and 7th ends, but in the 8th end the last stone was for Scotland. They played carefully and accurately and won the end 1-0, and with it the match 7:6 and reached the final of the tournament. It is noteworthy that for the Scottish couple, this joint success is actually the first, because the main partner of Gina in mixed doubles for several years is Bruce Mouat, with whom she repeatedly won the Scottish championships.

The parallel game between Rachel Homan/Niklas Edin and Tomas Paul/Zuzana Hajkova started with two winning ends for the Czechs, they led 4-0. The titled opponents equalized the score for the next two ends (4-4). Then the teams took "their" ends, and before the last end Czechs were in the lead 7-6. In the last end, the advantage was owned by the Canadian-Swedish pair, but it seemed that the Czechs can, at least, take the game into an extra-end. However, a gross mistake in the penultimate throw actually deprived the Czechs chances of success. Rachel Homan clearly performed his last shot, in the end, the Canadian-Swedish couple won five rocks at once and won with a score of 11:7. Tomas Paul did not hide his disappointment after the match. Niklas Edin after the game noted that the game was very difficult, only in the last end they were lucky. In general, he noted that all the games in the tournament were held in a difficult fight, none of the victories came easily.

Final Homan/Edin vs Aitken/Menzies and the match for third place Komarova/Goryachev vs Hajkova/Paul will start at 14:00 local time (UTC+7).
